Roger was born in Kent in 1945 and studied at Crayford School for Gentlefolk.   He chose the landscape of West Cornwall as his home and has lived there for most of his life.

Apart from a brief spell in the City he has been self employed as a gardener in West Penwith with many local artists on his books.   He has long been associated with traditional working craft as an owner, involved in the Sea and Sail elementof Golowan since its revival and was know for his contributions to Peninsula Voice.

His life in horticulture has prtovided him with an ehye for the energies at work in the landscape, and his connections with Penzance Harbour an interest in traditional working craft.   He has had no training in painting.
