Barbara Dalgarno

SADLY BARBARA DALGARNO PASSED AWAY ON JULY 21st - JUST BEFORE HER 86th BIRTHDAY.

Barbara was born in Bloomsbury and brought to Cornwall when she was three. Growing up near St Hilary she became deeply inspired by paintings in this lovely Church. As a child, always painting, writing stories and poems, she longed to go to Art School, but was not encouraged by her foster parents. "You must earn a living". In those days you accepted such declarations.

Thirty years later, recovering from serious illness living in Chelsea, Barbara went out and bought paints and brushes. She set about creating pictures rooted in Mousehole, Barbara works at her paintings most days - light hearted Cornish villages and harbours, dancing boats and windy sky's - "All Cornwall rolled into one". The possibilities and problems of watercolours are an endless adventure. She now paints also in acrylic.

Barbara has exhibited in the RONA Gallery in London, and many galleries in the South West, especially in Mousehole at the Millpool Gallery and the Sandpiper Gallery.
