Sarah Sloan
Very briefly- my training was in nursing not art. I'm dyslexic and have always found a freedom in painting.
I have learned most about painting from myself, trial and error, doing a lot of it and intuition.
A number of my designs have been printed both on textiles, cards and gift-wrap. I have
taken on all sorts of projects over the years and have designed and painted large stage sets.
I usually do a number of drawings before I start a painting and I always try to plan my
colours with care. I frequently combine direct observation with my imagination. I also paint a
lot from sketches, often done whilst in Suffolk and sometimes backed up with photographs
that I take for further reference. I enjoy collage as well and trying different mediums.
I have been in a number of exhibitions and have a number planned both this year and next.
