Association of British Naive Artist - ABNA

Hector McNeil

I am 56 years old and work as a gamekeeper in Strathdon Aberdeenshire.   I started painting in 1992 after attending an art class at the Lost Gallery Strathdon but it soon became clear that I was not a traditional artist.   Naïve was the word I heard.   It was not long before I was involved in a mixed exhibition at the Peacock Printmakers Aberdeen from which Aberdeen Art Gallery bought a painting.   Then a one-man exhibition at Conoco Oil Aberdeen.   Over the next few years I have exhibited at London Affordable Art Fair, Dublin Art Fair, Carby Art Gallery Aberdeen, Belfast, Glasgow Art Fair and have sold paintings to buyers in various countries around the world.   My paintings are on permanent display at the Lost Gallery Strathdon, Aberdeenshire.
